FOOD PROCESS MANUFACTURING : New OSHA Local Emphasis Program Means More Inspections of Illinois Food Manufacturers

December 8, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

REGISTER

All Food Processing Manufacturers Should Attend!

OSHA is expanding a Local Emphasis Program (LEP) for the Food Manufacturing Industry launched earlier this year in Wisconsin to include Illinois (and Ohio) employers. This LEP will provide Illinois OSHA offices the authority to evaluate the employer’s workplace by conducting programmed, un-programmed, or other limited-scope inspections of production operations to ensure employees are being properly protected and verify that employers are complying with the applicable OSHA regulations. OSHA is expected to conduct inspections for all referral and complaints, formal or non-formal, which contain allegations of potential work explore to serious hazards associated with operating food production machinery or performing service, maintenance and sanitation tasks on food processing and ancillary equipment.

Each Illinois OSHA Office will prepare a master inspection list ensure it is randomized and then begin inspections after an outreach period. The OSHA offices will conduct inspections focusing on lockout, machine guarding, sanitation and temporary worker safety.
