• This should be a basic thing, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I can change the preferences in the editor for which panels are showing (and I can change the order by clicking the arrows on the panels), what kind of blocks should show, writing mode, etc. This is all nice, but I can only do it for my user.

Though, by default the editor window can be overwhelming for users. How can I change the defaults for all users? Or at least per role?

I don’t want to change what they can do (capabilities/role), but what they see.

I’ve searched for solutions, but I can’t find anything in the documentation on this nor any plugins that help.

  • I was searching the same thing. Basically I want to make the editor easier to use for a non-techy person and the Gutenberg preferences allow me to do so. But as you said, not system wide.
