    I’m not able to access the screenshot you’re trying to link to, but the widget configuration has options for customizing the title of the widget and turning off the full dates of the posts. (There’s not an option to turn off the year of the posts, because that’s part of the point of the plugin.)

    You can hide it with CSS. The CSS class on that element is .r34otd-dateline
