    Hi,

    I’m on version 9.1.1

    Okay,

In version 9.1.1, I’ve revamped the plugin with new source code and a new database structure. This means it will start counting from zero due to the new features and database structure.

The reason for this update was to enhance the speed and security of the plugin for future WordPress and PHP releases.

However, you can still use the old version of the plugin. I won’t be releasing any future updates for it, but it’s still available for use. You can download the old version again from the website https://pagevisitcounter.com/.

But, I would recommend starting fresh with version 9.1.1 if you’re okay with losing old data. You’ll gain access to many new features.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Thank you.

Sorry but I don’t see why we should loose all the data because you upgrade the plugin. The page count is very important.

I agree. That doesn’t follow the standards for new developments in technology. SEO relies on that data over time for performance.

Is there a way to add the numbers back to the database manually? The old version caused the site to go down. I disabled it, upgraded and the site worked but the count is gone.

unfortunately that appears to be the case.

Setting the start numbers on the page do nothing to what is displayed

I lost all stats because of this “upgrade”.

I wish I would have been told so — then I could have exported, made screenshots, etc.

It feels so disregarding on behalf of the author. I won’t be using Advanced Page View Counter anymore.

@chrisb1978 if you can obtain a copy of the old version you can get your counts back. The same thing happened to me. Remember to turn off auto upgrade on the plug-in. Mine upgraded and I lost everything. The new plug-in database structure changed. I don’t understand why the most common thing to bring data forward wasn’t done. This data is important to websites.

I have turned off auto renew. I was paying, because I thought this was a great plugin. Now, with all my stats gone with the premium upgrade. I will not purchase again unless support writes code where the upgrades, read from the old database stats.
Can you all tell me, which version did you turn your plugin back to? I have 8.0.3 download. I’m wondering if this is far back enough?

    Thank you.

@camywpsite I’m able to download the old version, but I don’t know how to install it. How would I find that out?

    Thank you!

@chrisb1978 from the dashboard you should go to plugins there is an option upper right hand corner for you to upload plugins You need to make sure that the plug-in is accessible in a folder on your machine (navigate to the folder). You should be able to upload the plugin just like you upload an image. When you download the plugin it’s a compressed or zipped file you do not need to unzip it, upload it as is. Be sure to turn off auto update otherwise the plugin will move to the newer version. Glad you found the old one.

@ripriprip yes that should give you the results you need. It’s only 9.x.x that removes all your counts. Remember turn auto update off.

I installed that Legacy version.. using the zip file upload method. (I backed up my database just incase, but it was not affected).
My site stats seemed to take a long time to load the first couple times that I tried it, after the activation of “legacy”… It’s working now.
I didn’t have to set up the counter settings, they just appeared as they were before AND all my stats/data are back. I will be sure that auto update is off.

Now it would be awesome if the developers could remember us in the future and help us continue to use this – by creating some type of database import tool or something.
Thank you all who participated here.
